Three dead, two others injured in road crash in Yapei

The incident happened on Saturday evening 28 October 2023 at about 6pm involving an articulator truck and a cargo car carrying salt

Two drivers and a mate have been burnt to death while two others have also sustained various degrees of injuries after two trucks collided head-on at Yapei in the Central Gonja district of the Savannah Region.

The incident happened on Saturday evening 28 October 2023 at about 6pm involving an articulator truck and a cargo car carrying salt.

An eye witness told Asaase News that the driver of the articulator truck which was coming from Tamale direction was on a telephone call and on reaching the sharp curve after descending the Yapei bridge, lost control and veered off his Lane to the other lane leading to a head-on collision with the cargo track which was also coming from Buipe direction.

According to him, there were four people including the driver onboard the cargo track while the articulator tract this occupied by only the driver.

Assemblyman for Yapei electoral area Iddi Kamil said those injured have been sent to the Yapei clinic for treatment while bodies of the three have been sent to the Buipe Hospital for autopsy and preservation.
