UCMAS programmes enhance academic performance, says educationist

Speaking at an internal UCMAS competition held within Crown Prince Academy, Mensah highlighted the program's holistic approach, engaging both sides of the brain through mental calculations and visualisation techniques

The vice principal of Crown Prince Academy, Barbara Mensah, says the Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic System (UCMAS) program has not only sharpened students’ mental acuity but has also significantly bolstered their performance across various academic subjects.

Speaking at an internal UCMAS competition held within Crown Prince Academy, Mensah highlighted the programme’s holistic approach, engaging both sides of the brain through mental calculations and visualisation techniques.

“The UCMAS program has been instrumental in enhancing students’ proficiency, not only in mathematics but also in other subjects requiring analytical thinking and logical reasoning,” stated Mensah.

The competition, designed to test and reward students within the academy, served as a platform to showcase the results of the UCMAS program. Students demonstrated remarkable skill and agility in mental arithmetic, showcasing the effectiveness of the program in fostering cognitive development.

Aakash Batwa, the technical head at Maurya Education, emphasised the significance of internal competitions in shaping students into formidable contenders at the national level.

Batwa highlighted the importance of such competitions in equipping students with the skills necessary to achieve success and accolades on a broader stage.

“The UCMAS program not only enhances mathematical abilities but also cultivates essential skills such as focus, concentration, and quick thinking, which are invaluable assets in today’s competitive academic landscape,” added Batwa.
