IWD DigitALL: Emma Ocansey shares her thoughts on the importance of innovation and technology for gender inclusivity

Emma Ocansey posits innovation and technology as the most important tools in the workplace environment for gender inclusivity

Emma Ocansey, the head of distribution at Old Mutual Ghana, shares her thoughts and ideas on the emergence and importance of innovation and technology in the workplace and at home for gender inclusivity

Innovation and technology have revolutionised the way we live and work, and they are becoming increasingly important in promoting gender inclusivity both in the workplace and at home.

With the advent of new technologies, businesses are now able to create more flexible work arrangements, provide better support for work-life balance, and eliminate barriers to women’s advancement in the workplace.

Similarly, technology has also enabled women to take on new roles and responsibilities in their personal lives, such as managing their finances, accessing healthcare services, and connecting with others.

In this context, it is important to explore how innovation and technology can be leveraged to promote gender inclusivity and support women’s empowerment in all spheres of life.

Virtual collaboration tools such as video conferencing and online project management tools can help promote gender inclusivity by creating opportunities for remote work and flexible schedules. This can help accommodate the needs of caregivers and women who face challenges with traditional work schedules.

Wearable technology, such as smartwatches and fitness trackers, can help women manage their health and wellness by tracking important metrics such as heart rate, sleep patterns, and physical activity levels. This can help women stay on top of their health and well-being and take proactive steps to prevent health problems.

Virtual mentoring and coaching can provide women with access to professional development opportunities and guidance, regardless of their location or schedule. This can help women advance their careers and overcome barriers to advancement.

Smart home technology, such as voice-activated assistants and smart thermostats, can help women manage their household tasks and responsibilities more efficiently. This can help reduce the burden of household chores and free up time for other pursuits, including career advancement.

Remote learning opportunities can help women access education and training programs regardless of their location or schedule. This can help women develop new skills and advance their careers without having to leave their families or take time off from work.

Finally, I believe innovation has helped women to have a healthy work and life balance. It saves women time on manual work which converts into a profitable Return on Investment. If more women are educated on this, they will experience ease in all day-to-day activities.
