Upper East: REGSEC bans wearing of smock in Bawku

Regional Security Council (REGSEC) says the ban is to prevent criminals from concealing arms in smocks to cause mayhem

The Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has banned the wearing of smock in Bawku township.

The ban takes effect immediately.

The Regional Security Council in a statement said the ban is to prevent criminals and unscrupulous elements from concealing arms and ammunition in the smock to attack innocent civilians.

Meanwhile, Ambrose Dery, the Minister for the Interior, has imposed a curfew on Bawku Municipality and its environs in the Upper East Region.

The imposition is on the advice of the Upper East Regional Security Council following a recent threat of insecurity in the area.

The curfew is effective, Wednesday, 24 November 2021, from 4.pm to 6.am.
