Winning VGMA artiste of the year is a done deal, says Piesie Esther

The W’aye Me Yie artiste said her works in the last few months are a testament that she deserves the VGMA Artiste of the Year crown

Gospel musician Piesie Esther says winning the topmost artiste of the year award at this year’s Ghana Music Awards is a done deal for her since she has worked harder than her contenders in the year under review.

Speaking with Graphic Showbiz at the nominee announcement party held at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on 18 March, the W’aye Me Yie artiste said her works in the last few months are a testament that she deserves the VGMA Artiste of the Year crown.

“Ghanaians know the work I put in last year. I was one of the busiest gospel artistes who played all the major gospel shows in Ghana including private gigs and in the churches.

“I had two successful shows in Accra and Kumasi and from the records, W’aye Meyie stands very tall among other songs by the other artistes.

“W’aye Meyie is a nationwide hit and very popular in every corner of the year,” Piesie said.

Piesie comes up against the likes of Sarkodie, Black Sherif, Camidoh, Stonebwoy, King Promise, Joe Mettle and KiDi, who is the reigning Artiste of the Year.

Twenty-seven awards are expected to be presented at this year’s VGMA which will take place at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Saturday 13 May.

The likes of Kofi Kinaata, Wendy Shay, Gyakie, Lasmid, KelvynBoy, Camidoh, Perez Musiq, Celestine Donkor, Evans Scott were nominated in various categories.

Categories for VGMA24 include Artiste of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year, Gospel Song of the Year, Gospel Artiste of the Year, Album of the Year, Afrobeats Song of the Year, Highlife Song of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, Rapper of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.
