West Mamprusi: One killed, two others injured in robbery attack

Locals told Asaase News that the gunmen opened gunfire on the moving vehicle along the Walewale-Tamale stretch of the road

Alhassan Ibrahim, 16, has been shot dead in a suspected armed robbery attack in Walewale, the West Mamprusi municipal capital of the North East Region.

On Thursday (5 January), a cargo vehicle full of cattle was heading from Bawku in the Upper East Region to Accra when it was attacked by the suspected robbers.

Locals told Asaase News that the gunmen opened gunfire on the moving vehicle along the Walewale-Tamale stretch of the road.

Ibrahim died at the scene while the two others he was traveling with are currently being treated at the Walewale Government Hospital.

The police are investigating the case.

Five days ago, a similar incident occurred on the same stretch where two suspected armed robbers were lynched by the residents for attacking a bus travelling from Bawku to Accra.
