Adwoa Safo: It feels good to be back in Parliament

The MP for Dome-Kwabenya made a return to Parliament on Friday having absented herself for almost a year

The MP for Dome-Kwabenya Sarah Adwoa Safo on Friday (11 November) returned to Parliament after a year of staying abroad without “permission from the Speaker.”

“It feels good to be back,” the lawmaker told journalists at the lobby.

“I want to greet all my constituents and tell them that as their Member of Parliament I’m back by the grace of God,” she added.

Last Sunday, the embattled MP worshiped with some churches in her constituency and pledged to work hard in order to bring development to the constituency.

She fellowshipped on Sunday (6 November) with the Taifa Pentecost, Ebenezer Presbyterian Church CFC and the Israel King of Jews Church.

In a Facebook post, Adwoa Safo used the opportunity to thank God for the care, guidance and protection of her family during her challenging times over the last one year.

Her fate in Parliament

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has ruled that the House will debate on the removal or otherwise of Dome Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo and two others. The other two are the MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, and the MP for Ayawaso Central, Henry Quartey.

They have been accused of absenting themselves without permission for more than the constitutionally required 15 days.

The Majority Caucus has been praying the Speaker to declare Safo’s seat vacant.
