Court sentences Bobrisky to six months in prison

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Bobrisky over currency mutilation and abuse of naira notes

Controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, has been sentenced to six months in jail by the Federal High Court in Lagos, Nigeria with no option of a fine.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Bobrisky over currency mutilation and abuse of naira notes.

EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, told Channels Television in a telephone chat on Thursday (11 April) that the crossdresser was arrested in Lagos on Wednesday night.

“He (Bobrisky) was arrested Wednesday night in Lagos,” the anti-graft agency official said.

Bobrisky has been in the news for various controversial reasons including winning the “Best Dressed Female” Award at a movie premiere on 25 March 2024, a development that irked many entertainers.

Amid the social outrage, Force spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, said there is no provision in the law suggesting that crossdressers in Nigeria should be arrested.
