A police woman has been stabbed to death at her residence at Damongo in the Savannah Region, the Service confirmed in a statement.

The officer was found dead lying in a pool of blood with wounds believed to be knife stabs on Monday 2 August 2021, the statement issued and signed by the Director of Public Affairs of the Police Service, Supt Sheila Kessie Abayie-Buckman, said.

The body has since been deposited at the West Gonja District Hospital, pending investigation. The boyfriend of the deceased is a prime suspect, the statement said.

“Her boyfriend is highly suspected and the police are on manhunt for him. The Police Administration has also started processes to inform the family of the deceased and assures that it will update the public on the matter,” the statement added.

This is coming few months after the Half Assini District Commander, Supt. Cyprian Zeno, was found dead with a gunshot wound at his residence at about 7 am on Saturday 30 January 2021.

Prior to that a police officer was in January shot dead at Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region. The Lance Corporal was in mufti and on his way to the office when he was shot.

The attack on him follows a shoot out between the police and some armed robbers who had attacked a fuel station in the town.

A police officer stationed at the National Protection Unit, Constable Yelnona Eugene, was also in February this year  gunned down at his duty point, the police administration has announced.

In June, 2021 another police officer was  found dead in his room at the Flagstaff House police barracks in Accra on , investigators have confirmed.
