Eight things you (probably) didn’t know about record-breaking Nigerian chef Hilda Baci

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated 27-year-old gourmet chef, Hilda Bassey Effiong, also known as Hilda Baci for making history by breaking the world record of longest hours of cooking, finding her way into the Guinness Book of Records, and placing Nigeria on the global spotlight.

The chef, on Monday, smashed the 87 hours 45 minutes record set by now-former Guinness World Record holder, Lata Tondon.

In a statement on Monday (15 May) Buhari commended all those who supported Baci to make history. Here are eight interesting things we bet you (probably) didn’t know about the record-breaking Nigerian chef.

1. Born in Akwa Ibom state

Hilda Baci is a renowned Nigerian cook, born on 20 September 1996, in Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria. She has made a name for herself in the Nigerian culinary industry.

2. Foodprenueur

Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, is also a YouTube video creator, host, TV producer, and foodpreneur.

3. Studied sociology

Baci schooled at Madonna University Okija where she studied sociology. Hilda was born to Mr and Mrs Effiong Bassey of Akwa Ibom.

4. Founder of “My Food by Hilda”

She is the founder of “My Food by Hilda“, a premium restaurant and delivery service for African and continental dishes.

5. Actress

She has also showcased her acting prowess in various movies and soap operas, including Dream Chaser, which was nominated for Best Movie at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

6. Humanitarian

As a humanitarian, Hilda believes that everyone deserves well-prepared meals. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she is reported to have provided over 3,000 meals to less privileged communities.

7. Love for cars

As a successful chef and entrepreneur, Hilda Baci has an abiding passion for luxury cars. Hilda had been spotted driving a number of high-end vehicles over the years, including Mercedes-Benz G wagons and powerful SUVs.

8. Trainer

She hired a trainer to prepare her for the physical requirement of the 100 hours prolong cooking having conceived the idea of breaking the Guinness World Record of longest hours of cooking.
