Ghana Club 100 awards: Newmont adjudged best company in Ghana

The mining firm topped a ranking of the best companies in Ghana, beating competition from MTN Ghana and Amanex Company Limited

Newmont Ghana Gold Limited (Ahafo South Mine) has been adjudged the best company in Ghana at the 20th edition of the Ghana Club 100 Awards organised by the Ghana Investment Promotion Center (GIPC) on Friday (8 December) in Accra.

The mining firm topped a ranking of the best companies in Ghana, beating competition from MTN Ghana and Amanex Company Limited, that came  second and third respectively.

Newmont Ghana placed second in last year’s 19th edition of the Ghana Club 100 awards scheme after financial technology (FinTech) company, Zeepay, emerged as the number one company in the country.

Below are the top 10 firms in this year’s edition:

1 – Newmont Ghana Gold Ltd (Ahafo South Mine)

2 – Scancom PLC (MTN Ghana)

3 – Amanex Company Limited

4 – GoldFields Ghana (Tarkwa Mine)

5 – Newmont Golden Ridge Ltd (Akyem Mine)

6 – Anglogold Ashanti Ltd

7 – Dansworld International Services

8 – Abosso Goldfields Ltd

9 – Benso Oil Palm Plantation Ltd

10 – FBNBank Ghana

The Ghana Club 100 awards, which began in 1998, aims to promote effective corporate governance among businesses in Ghana’s private sector and thereby serve as a benchmark for corporate excellence.

The event also enables businesses to seek out new opportunities to broaden their supply networks and expand their markets.

The GIPC awards allow businesses to highlight their accomplishments, incentivise them to do more, and motivate others to strive harder to make the list.

This year’s Ghana Club 100 awards was on the theme: “Accelerating Economic Growth: Amplifying Ghana’s Global Market Footprint through AFCFTA.”

The theme was designed to promote investment, trade, and knowledge exchange, to would boost Ghana’s economic growth.
