Ghanaian athletes miss podium in men’s 20km walk final at 13th African Games

John Dadzie and Seth Arthur still have an opportunity to redeem themselves, as they are also representing Ghana in the Men's Javelin Throw event on Friday (22 March)

John Dadzie and Seth Arthur, representing Ghana, faced disappointment in the Men’s 20km Walk Final held at the 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana.

The event, hosted at the University of Ghana (UG) Sports Stadium on Wednesday (20 March), witnessed Dadzie completing the race in 10th position with a time of 1:53:07.

Dadzie trailed behind the gold medalist, Fekansa Misgana Wakuma from Ethiopia, by 25:02 minutes. Wakuma clinched the gold with a remarkable time of 1:28:05, merely a second ahead of second-placed Gathimba Samuel from Kenya. Algeria’s Ismail Benhammouda secured the third position, finishing 3:07 minutes after the gold medalist.

Ghana’s Seth Arthur did not finish (DNF) the race, alongside Algerian Aymen Ben Saha and Ethiopian Bisetegn Matebia Endeshaw.

Despite this setback, Dadzie and Arthur still have an opportunity to redeem themselves, as they are also representing Ghana in the Men’s Javelin Throw Final. The javelin throw competition is set to take place at the UG Sports Stadium on Friday (22 March).
