John Boadu will never allow NPP to sink, says Nartey Yeboah

The Greater Accra NPP second vice chairman, Eric Nartey Yeboah, has said that he is expecting the general secretary of the party to be free and fair in discharging his duties

The Greater Accra Regional NPP second vice chairman, Eric Nartey Yeboah has said that regardless of the outcome of the 2022 delegates’ conference, John Boadu is a strong politician and he will not allow the party to sink.

Speaking with Philip Asiawo on the Press Pass programme on Wednesday (20 July) he said, “If anybody thinks that they are following JB and he is not there and so they will do something against the party, trust me that person will not be friends with JB again because he sees the party as a baby and he will do everything to protect it.”

Chairman Dollar as he is affectionately called said the NPP national delegates’ conference was generally peaceful “One thing I want to say is that the election committee has done so well. Right from the polling station to electoral area coordinators to constituency, regional and national.”

“It’s a very long journey in that political arena. There are basic factors that influence you to have a successful election or an unsuccessful one. And one of the factors is proper rules and regulations. So our elders were able to come out with very pure, solid rules and regulations and that influenced the election to be successful.”

Shockers of the conference

Asked whether there were any surprises at the conference, he said, “Elections are like opening a door to a dark room, you don’t know what will happen next. So as the soldiers will do when they even throw the grenade into the room, they take cover before entering, because anything can happen.”

“For shock, it surely came, because one thing we all know is that after the vetting, it means that they are all qualified. They are all good, they are all solid. It can be anyway, anybody can win.”

According to him, “You know the general secretary position is one of the positions that everybody has a strong interest in. Because when you look at Article 110 it states clearly that he’s the only person that the party employed fully. It says that we employ you and we are going to pay you to stay at the office. So looking at the factors he is the CEO. That position is so important.”

He added: “So if your CEO lacks so many things, it means your company is going to run at a loss. So it’s not necessarily the personality involved, but it’s the position and what the position contributes in developing the party. And we are fortunate to be in government, first of all, we don’t want to go to the opposition.”

“Per our party constitution, we are saying that the general secretary must be at the office. So when you have a general secretary who doesn’t stay at the office, it means we will face problems. I’m expecting the general secretary to have these qualities.”
