Kalamonia: Savannah NPP executives must remain united

Alhaji Kalamonia said one of his key priorities will be to unite the leadership front of the NPP to put the region in a pole position for victory

The newly-elected Savannah regional chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Sulemana Iddrisu, popularly known as Professor Kalamonia, has reached out to both winners and losers of the weekend election to remain united to retain the party in power.

Alhaji Kalamonia said one of his key priorities will be to unite the leadership front of the NPP to put the region in a pole position for victory.

In his victory address in Damongo, Kalamonia expressed gratitude to delegates for the confidence reposed in him and promised to live above reproach.

Securing jobs

He said he will work with other government agencies to secure jobs for the youth.

“This is the second time Savannah Region has chosen me to lead our dear party in the region. We shall do the needful, canvas for votes, hunt for jobs for the youth, and look for opportunities for our people in Savannah Region… we can break the 8,” he said.

Alhaji Kalamonia polled 112 votes out of 173, whilst his main opponent Abass Azumah managed to secure 60 votes.

The business man being the first regional chairman of the party since the creation of the region, was able to secure three parliamentary seats for the party in the 2020 general elections.

The regional minister Saeed Muhazu Jibril said: “Our target for 2024 is to add one or two seats to tell the whole world that NPP for the Savannah has come to stay.”
