Lydia Forson’s tweet inspired “Effiakuma Love” song, says Kofi Kinaata

Kofi Kinaata recently released a brand new single titled "Effiakuma Love," which has captivated listeners in Ghana

Ghanaian musician and songwriter Martin King Arthur, popularly known as Kofi Kinaata, has said that his new song “Effiakuma Love” was inspired by a tweet from Ghanaian actress Lydia Forson.

“The song Effiakuma started with a tweet from Lydia Forson,” Kinaata said on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Thursday (18 May).

”The reason why the song has a reggae vibe is because I have decided not to be confined or restricted. Music is very spiritual; for some of us, this is our purpose,” the 33-year-old said.

“I remember Lydia Forson tweeting about there not being any song that embodies Fante women who combine education and kitchen work; like an obaasima vibe,” the VGMA Songwriter of the Year said.

According to Kinaata, “Everybody mentioned my name in that tweet, and this was in 2018 or 2019, so I actually ignored it. But unconsciously, I was putting lyrics together for a song.”

Apart from his rap prowess, he has grown into a very good singer, taking the highlife genre by storm. Effiakuma Love is another great song to enjoy and feel good about.
