Meet Fafape Etsa Foe, the entrepreneur seeking to make Africa the mushroom hub

The global mushroom market, which was valued at US$49.8 billion in 2021, is projected to reach US$112.71 billion by 2030

Fafape Ama Etsa Foe, CEO, Mushroom Queen Global is seeking to train about 5,000 women in the next five years to venture into mushroom farming in a bid to empower them economically.

Mushroom farming is one of the most profitable agri-business that one can start with a low investment and less space, experts say.

The global mushroom market, which was valued at US$49.8 billion in 2021, is projected to reach US$112.71 billion by 2030.

Taking her turn on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday (29 August), Foe said her ambition is to make Africa the hub for mushroom.

“I would like to see the Mushroom Queen brand becoming an African force for mushrooms,” Foe said. “We are contributing and making Africa as a zone for mushrooms just as we have China and USA.”

“We want Africa to positively impact 5,000 women in the next five years to be able to establish their own farms, and that will give us a lot of joy and that is what we are embarking on.

‘We have already trained over 100 women in Madina with the MP and these women, some are doing well with the business, and we want to see more of that by positioning ourselves to help these women to do that,” she added.
