Nkroful: Eleven suspects arrested over attacks on court, police station

The eleven suspects were among a group of people who rioted at the district magistrate court in Nkroful to demand the release of their colleagues on trial

Eleven suspects have so far been arrested by the police in connection with  the attacks on the Esiama Divisional Headquarters, the Nkroful Magistrate Court and the Ellembelle District Assembly on 1 April 2022, police have said.

The eleven suspects were among a group of people who rioted at the district magistrate court in Nkroful in the Western Region to demand the release of their colleagues on trial.

They include Cosmos Gadekor, Richard Tetteh, Kwame Gokeh Miah, Michael Anyimiah, Bartholomew Ekenlebie, Isaac Ampong, Andy Blay, Meshack Addae, Emmanuel Adu, Michael Narh and David Ekenlebie

They have been arraigned before court in Takoradi.

All eleven accused persons have been granted bail by the court in the sum of GHC30,000.00 each with three sureties, two to be justified.

Five of the accused persons who were able to meet the bail conditions have been released. The remaining six are in custody awaiting the fulfilment of their bail conditions.

“We have intensified efforts to pursue and arrest other suspects who are on the run and bring them to face justice. We wish to assure the good people of Ghana that we will not relent in our efforts to ensure that law and order prevail in our society,” the police said.
