Northern Region: NDC suspends vice- chairman over assault of treasurer
A statement issued by the NDC on Wednesday (17 January) said the decision is in connection with the alleged assault of the regional treasurer, Hajia Shamima Yakubu by Gbewaa at the party's office.
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended its Northern regional vice-chairman, Alhaji Hamid Gbewaa, an official statement has said.
A statement issued by the NDC on Wednesday (17 January) said the decision is in connection with the alleged assault of the regional treasurer, Hajia Shamima Yakubu by Gbewaa at the party’s office.
“At its meeting on 16 January 2024, to which regional chairman and regional secretary were invited, the Functional Executive Committee was briefed about your assault on the Northern regional treasurer.
“At the end of the deliberations, the following decisions were taking in accordance with Article 48(1) 48(6) and 48 (8) b of the party’s constitution.”
“A. That with immediate effect your membership is suspended. B. That your suspension has been referred to the National Disciplinary Committee for adjudication,” the NDC statement said.
