Okyeame Kwame: Don’t hate your cheating partner

The Rap Doctor says love does not fade regardless of how your partner treats you

  • "Maybe you are with someone and you have promised to love that person forever, even if that person is killing you, beating you, emotionally abusing you, [although] you do not have to still be in the same space again, you have to consistently love the person regardless."

Rapper and author Okyeame Kwame has said there is nothing wrong in praying for one’s ex-lover because “true love never fades.”

According to him, since he became conscious of the definition of love, he believes true love in relationship should survive regardless of obstacles.

‘”I realised that divorce doesn’t mean you shouldn’t continuously love them, pray for your ex, whenever she calls you about the kids you have to be available because that is love, and true love never fades away,” Okyeame Kwame said on Asaase Radio’s Between Hours show.

The author of Love Lockdown said true love should not end after a partner cheats.

Concept of love

“It shouldn’t be a relationship that immediately you cheat on me we are done,” the songwriter said, adding: “The concept of loving someone must not be limited to only when they are good to you, even if they have cheated on you, even if they have stolen your money or even if they have lied to you, you should still love them.”

“The first seven years of my relationship with Annica [wife] was a transaction. I realised that I was kind to her because she was kind to me but that changed. I changed the love I have for my wife based on the love I have for my children,” he told the host Naa Ashorkor.

“Love is a promise that no matter what you become I will make sure you succeed. So it shouldn’t be that immediately you cheat on me we are done, or the day you call me a fool we are done, that is a transaction and not a relationship.

“Maybe you are with someone and you have promised to love that person forever, even if that person is killing you, beating you, emotionally abusing you, [although] you do not have to still be in the same space again, you have to consistently love the person regardless,” Okyeame Kwame said.
