Political parties and EC want 7 December declared public holiday
The proposal from the EC seeks to give voters the opportunity to devote the day to exercise their civic right and responsibility to vote
All Political parties in the country have agreed with the Election Commissionās (EC) proposal to the Chief of Staff and the Ministry of Interior to gazette Monday 7 December 2020 a statutory public holiday, the EC has said.
In a statement, the EC said: “This was agreed at an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Tuesday (1 December).
“The Commissionās proposal seeks to give Registered Voters the opportunity to devote the day to exercise their civic right and responsibility to vote during the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary Elections,” the statement added.
