President Akufo-Addo appoints new director for Tema Port
Sandra Opoku, general manager of Legal Services at the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), becomes the new acting director of Tema Port
President Akufo-Addo has appointed Ms Sandra Opoku, the general manager of legal services at the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), as the new acting director of Tema Port.
Ms Opoku takes over from Edward Kofi Osei, who retired on 3 March 2019, having attained the compulsory retirement age of 60.
The acting director general of GPHA, Michael Luguje, at a meeting with senior management members of the GPHA, announced that a letter has named Ms Opoku as the person to fill the vacant position in an acting capacity.

Ms Opoku is a lawyer by profession. She joined the GPHA in 2003 and enrolled in 2004 at the International Maritime Law Institute in Malta, where she studied international maritime law. She previously served as a general manager in charge of administration at the GPHA.
According to Ghanatalksbusiness sources, the appointment of the new acting director of Tema Port is just one in a list of several appointments the Council of State considered when they met President Akufo-Addo.
