“1030” album launch was successful beyond imagination, says MzVee

The album was released on 24 June to mark MzVee's 30th birthday as well as her 10th anniversary in the music industry.

Award-winning Ghanaian musician MzVee has expressed gratitude to her fans following the “highly successful” launch of her latest album, 1030.

The album includes collaborations with Ghanaian and Nigerian artistes like Stonebwoy, Kofi Kinaata, Yemi Alade, Harmonize and Bella Shmurda.

“Honestly, it was successful beyond imagination,” MzVee  said on the Between Hours show. “This is my first concert I ever organised with my team, by ourselves. And it did really, really well.”

The album was released on 24 June to mark her 30th birthday as well as her 10th anniversary in the music industry.

“So, the title 1030 stands for 10 years in the music industry and me turning 30 years. So, it’s just a celebration on music and what I have grown into. For the concert, I actually got on stage at 10:30pm to perform. Like when people listen to the album, they say I sound different. And I have been recording this like over a year. So 10 songs for 10 years.

My 1030 album concert was super fun with a full house. I’m so grateful for all the love and support, especially from my colleagues,” MzVee said.

Being female in the music industry

Touching on her comeback in 2021 as an independent artiste, MzVee said: “It’s been an experience, honestly, especially being female. Being a female in any industry is crazy. And as for the music industry is very male dominated.”

“So, to be an independent artiste who’s female, who’s been doing this three years after leaving her record label and still being nominated for awards, performing, it’s just beautiful to me,” the come and see my moda hitmaker told host Naa Ashorkor.

“I think being with a label and being by myself have bad and good sides. But being by myself I think I have enjoyed a little more because I have a hand in every single thing I do and it’s just the way I want it.

“You hardly find people who would sit with you and listen to that intellectual part of you. Or just go business with you. It’s very difficult. They are always trying to grab something,” she said.
