MP for Walewale donates canoes to communities along the White Volta River

The donation comes on the back of the annual Bagre Dam spillage and the heavy downpours which caused havoc in the North East Region

Lariba Abudu Zuwera, the Member for Parliament for Walewale and deputy minister for gender, children and social protection, has donated six canoes, life jackets and fishing nets worth GHC23,0000 to communities along the White Volta River.

The donation comes on the back of the annual Bagre Dam spillage and the heavy downpours which caused havoc in communities, farmlands and livestock in some parts of the North East Region during the rainy season.

Thirteen persons were been killed in this year’s floods in the North East Region.

The MP in an interview with Asaase News after the presentation of the canoes says the donation will go a long way to help the constituents as they always struggle to cross rivers to their farms during the farming season.
