Asenso-Boakye to youth: Valentine’s Day is not for “romance”

The Minister for Works and Housing Asenso-Boakye gave the advice during a visit to the Kumasi Girls Senior High School (KUGIS) on Val's Day

Francis Asenso-Boakye, the Minister for Works and Housing has advised the youth to see the celebration of Valentine’s Day as an avenue to express compassion, gratitude and kindness to their loved ones.

Asenso-Boakye gave the advice during a visit to the Kumasi Girls Senior High School (KUGIS) on Valentine’s Day, which is also celebrated as National Chocolate Day in Ghana.

“I spent my Valentine’s Day morning with students of Kumasi Girls Senior High School (KUGIS) at Abrepo, in the Bantama Constituency,” Asenso-Boakye wrote on Facebook.

“I reminded them that the ‘Love’ associated with Valentine’s Day is not about romance, as has been misconstrued lately, but represents important core values of compassion, gratitude, honesty, faithfulness and kindness.”

“I also used the opportunity to encourage them to productively use the internet, but they should be mindful of the possible dangers and negative impact of social media so that it will not ruin their future,” he said.

The MP also used the opportunity to distribute some chocolate to the students.
