The injured are responding to treatment and the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of Battor Government Hospital

The Ghana Police Service has restored order in Battor in the Volta Region and arrested at least 15 suspects in connection with violence sparked by a chieftaincy dispute which resulted in the deaths of five people and injury to others.

The injured are responding to treatment and the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of Battor Government Hospital for autopsy and preservation, a statement issued by the police said.

The police have so far retrieved two locally manufactured single-barrel guns, one locally manufactured pistol and a live BB cartridge from the suspects.

Security has since been beefed up in Battor township and the surrounding communities, and the 15 suspects are in custody assisting investigations, the police said.
