Car washer, 20, jailed 18 months for unlawful entry and stealing

The convict, a resident of KDS – a suburb of Dormaa Ahenkro –, stole a car battery, stabilizer, one woofer and speakers valued at GHC1 ,040

A circuit court in Dormaa Ahenkro has sentenced a 20-year-old car washer, Elvis Yeboah, to 18 months in prison for unlawful entry and stealing.

Yeboah, a resident of KDS – a suburb of Dormaa Ahenkro –, stole a car battery, stabilizer, one woofer and speakers valued at GHC1 ,040. He pleaded guilty to the two charges.

Police prosecutor, Emmanuel Asare, told the court, presided by Osei Kofi Amoako, that the complainant – Hayford Asante – is a tricycle rider residing at KDS.

Asare said at about 3pm on Sunday 14 May, the complainant returned home from church and found the convict inside his room. He asked Yeboah what he was doing in the room. The convict told Asante he was looking for his friend.

The prosecutor said in the course of the questioning, the complainant saw that the convict had packed the items mentioned above into a bag belonging to him (complainant).

After a struggle between the two, complainant over-powered convict, arrested and sent him and the item as exhibits to the police station.

Asare said the convict was re-arrested and detained for investigation, adding that during interrogation, the convict admitted to entering the room but denied having stolen the items.

The police prosecutor said after investigations, the convict was charged with the offence and arraigned before court.
