Juliet Aboagye-Wiafe appointed deputy director general of GCAA

President Akufo-Addo’s appointment of Juliet Aboagye-Wiafe makes her the first woman to hold the position of deputy director general in the GCAA’s history

President Akufo-Addo has appointed Juliet Aboagye-Wiafe as the new acting deputy director general, finance and administration of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

Until her appointment, she was the director of audit at the Ghana Airports Company Ltd (GACL).

Ms Aboagye-Wiafe is the first woman to be appointed to occupy the deputy director general’s position. Her appointment follows the retirement of Abdulai Alhassan, who retired in July this year.

A seasoned auditor, Ms Aboagye-Waife has in-depth knowledge of the aviation industry, having worked with GACL as director of audit for over ten years. At GACL, she ensured the restructuring of the audit department to make it more efficient and also helped improved controls and overall governance processes.

Before joining the GACL in 2010, she worked with Pannel Kerr Forster Charted Accountants as a management trainee and then joined Ghacem Ltd, a member of the Heidelberg Cement Group, working there for 17 years.

In recognition of her strong auditing background, she was made to serve as a member of the Audit Report Implementation Committee (ARIC) in several institutions in Ghana, including the Minerals Commission, Ghana Highways Authority, Community Water and Sanitation Agency, Local Government Secretariat and Statistical Service of Ghana.
