Kwabena Boateng: Good relationship with people of Ejisu helped win NPP primary

The former second vice chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ejisu, polled 394 votes out of the total votes cast

The newly elected parliamentary candidate for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ejisu, Kwabena Boateng has said his good relationship with his constituent in Ejisu won him the party’s primary on Saturday (13 April).

Boateng, a former second vice chairman of the NPP in Ejisu, polled 394 votes out of the total votes cast.

Helena Mensah, his closest contender had 302 votes followed by Yaa Akyamaa Aboagye who had 229 votes.

Dr Evans Duah also received 63 votes with Kwesi Nyantakyi, the former GFA president receiving 35 votes.

Speaking to Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Monday (15 April), Boateng said, “I think it is about how I lived with the people. There are several others who occupied constituency positions and wanted to bid for the MP’s seat elsewhere and were not successful.”

“So, it is about how you live with the people, the comradery between yourselves and the people and generally how you will present hope, the hope that the people will see in you, and the leadership that you exhibit in your own small way,” he said.

Boateng added, “I think during my tenure [ as second vice chairman}, I tried my best to love the people and do the little I can for the people with all sincerity.”
