VIDEO: Kwabena Boateng wins NPP Ejisu primary

Kwesi Nyantakyi, the former Ghana Football Association (GFA) president received 35 votes

Lawyer Kwabena Boateng has won the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primary held on Saturday (13 April).

Boateng a former second deputy constituency chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ejisu, polled 394 votes out of the total votes cast.

Helena Mensah, his closest contender had 302 votes followed by Yaa Akyamaa Aboagye who had 229 votes.

Dr Evans Duah also received 63 votes with Kwesi Nyantakyi, the former GFA president receiving 35 votes.

Portia Baffoe (the wife of Abronye) had six votes with Klinsman Karikari Mensah and Aaron Prince Duah receiving two votes respectively.

Abena Pokua Amoah-Boaitey had no vote.

Saturday’s primary was triggered by the death of John Ampontuah Kumah.

Dr Kumah, aged 45, succumbed to a brief illness on 7 March 2024, leaving behind a wife and six children.

The Electoral Commission has set Tuesday, 30 April for the by-election in the constituency.

So far, the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the All People’s Congress (APC) have announced that they will not be presenting candidates for the actual by-election
