CAF Confederation Cup: Karim Zito blames lack of focus for Dreams FC’s elimination

Dreams FC missed a chance to reach the CAF Confederation Cup final following their 3-0 defeat to Zamalek SC at the Baba Yara Stadium

Dreams FC coach Karim Zito says lack of focus and attitude caused his team’s elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday (28 April).

Dreams FC missed a chance to reach the CAF Confederation Cup final following their 3-0 defeat to Zamalek SC at the Baba Yara Stadium in the second leg of their semifinal tie despite taking a goalless draw into the game from the first leg.

Zito’s side missed several chances to level the game after Zamalek went two-nil up before halftime.

The Still Believe team came out in the second half determined to get a goal, but inexperience on their were glaring as they and conceded the third goal from a Mostafa Shalaby 59th-minute strike to further cause problems for them.

After witnessing his side  end their fairytale in the competition, Karim Zito couldn’t help but agree that his side could have leveled the scores in the first half.

“So when you look at the first half, the chances we missed is like the more they were trying to do it, the attitude was coming down, so [it is] lack of focus that denied as a goal,” Zito said in a post-match interview.

“To me, today, I’m proud of my boys nobody thought we would reach here. We met an experienced team and we are young boys. Next time we will know how to go about it.”
