Oxford University to train 10 Ghanaian small scale mining firms in CSR

It follows a collaboration between the Ghana Gold Expo Foundation and the Western Regional Coordinating Council

At least 10 small scale mining firms in Ghana have been selected to benefit from a strategic mining training in corporate social responsibility (CSR) at Oxford University in September this year.

It follows a collaboration between the Ghana Gold Expo Foundation and the Western Regional Coordinating Council.

The Western regional minister Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah revealed this at the 4th edition of the Ghana Gold Expo Mining on Friday (14 July) in Takoradi.

“As part of the gains consolidated from the Ghana Mining Expo initiative, the Western Regional Council and the Ghana Expo Foundation have secured a partnership deal with Oxford University in the United Kingdom,” Darko-Mensah said.

“The objective is to set up a leadership and workshop programme to offer technical support for corporate institutions on their corporate social responsibility interventions.”

“As I am speaking five top mining companies have enrolled,” the minister added. “Additionally, plans are far advanced for 10 small scale mining firms …to undergo training on CSR in Oxford University in September 2023.”
