Propose implementable policies – CEO of PHDC tells KNUST TESCON

Charles Owusu said it is time for TESCON to step up its activities aimed at contributing positively to the policy focus of the NPP

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ghana Petroleum Hub Development Corporation, Mr Charles Owusu has charged the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) branch of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON), the student wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to propose implementable policies as a think-tank of the party.

Speaking on the theme; “Breaking the 8: Effective Communication & Empowering the Youth for Success in 2024 General Election,” Mr Owusu commended TESCON members for their contribution to the growth of the NPP noting that it was time for TESCON to step up its activities aim to contribute positively to the policy focus initiatives of the NPP, stating that “the future belongs to those who shape it.”

Mr Owusu further stated that “in the journey of a developing democracy such as Ghana, it is the voices of the youth that lights up the path to brightened future”. The voice of TESCON members to this end, he said, must be heard louder in the rank and file of the NPP than it is been heard currently.

Charles Owusu, a former petroleum executive with a strong financial background was appointed  by President Akufo-Addo as as the chief executive officer of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC), to lead the multibillion-dollar industrial park project, designed to establish Ghana as the hub for the petrochemical industry in the West African region in line with Section 14 (1) of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation Act (2020) Act 1053.

Owusu has been instrumental in erecting the pillars for the creation of the PHDC right from the onset. Consequently, the sector minister’s recommendation to the president that he be given the position comes as no surprise.
