The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has introduced the public to the use of the tariff reckoner and the electricity consumption estimator
According to the regulator, the move will benefit the service providers and the consumers.
Speaking in an interview with Asaase News at a stakeholder engagement in Sunyani, Patrick Antwi, the team leader and Bono regional manager, urged consumers and utility providers to take advantage of the tariff reckoner and the electricity consumption estimator.
Antwi urged the utility providers to improve their customer service, communication, and information distribution, and he also called on customers to pay their bills on time and stop the illegal connections.
In a brief comment, both VRA/NEDCo and GWL were grateful to the PURC for their assistance and education. They, however, promise to improve their services, especially customer service.
The stakeholders’ engagement was attended by the Sunyani area manager of VRA/NEDCo, Eng. Eugene Addo-Odoi, the Bono Regional Manager of GWL, Ing. John Eric Kwofie, as well as some staff of the utility providers.
Some of the issues that took centre stage were poor customer service, metre theft, lack of education, failure to pay utility bills, overbilling, illegal connections as a result of an increase in tariff costs, as well as the accumulation of bills by customers.
