Redevelopment of Kasoa-Winneba and Adenta-Dodowa roads takes off

The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Attah, officially handed over the sites to the contractors on Wednesday (13 December)

Contractors are moving to site to commence work on the 30-kilometre Kasoa-Winneba and 22-kilometre Adenta-Dodowa roads, with major interventions that will give both routes a big facelift and ease congestion.

The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Attah, officially handed over the sites to the contractors on Wednesday (13 December).

Work on the Kasoa-Budumburam road will be undertaken by NagFairmont Ltd while the Adenta-Dodowa will be built by Oswal Investments Ltd.

Amoako-Attah said the contractors have been tasked to mobilise to the various sites to start clearing and other preparation to enable full work to begin in January 2024.

Appearing on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Thursday (14 December), the minister expressed faith in the local contractors and said they are more than competent to deliver a good job.

“The contractors doing the relocation have started work,” he said. “Two contractors are involved; they are relocating water and electricity lines and Maripoma [a local contractor] is comparable to any foreign company in our country, and they are well positioned.

“I want to put on record that over the past seven years, under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo, about 20 contractors have had their capacity built in terms of equipment, personnel and everything.

“They are so efficient, and given the necessary funds, they can deliver just like any other, foreign contractor,” Amoako-Atta said.
