Roads Ministry: US$750 million loan facility will ensure construction of more roads

Parliament on Wednesday approved a US$750 million loan facility agreement between the government of Ghana and the African Export Import Bank

The Ministry Roads and Highways has hinted of plans to construct more roads across the country in the coming months under the government’s “Year of Roads” agenda.

It comes after Parliament approved a US$750 million loan facility agreement between the government of Ghana and the African Export Import Bank on Wednesday (20 July).

The loan facility is expected to finance capital and growth related expenditures in the 2022 Budget.

In a face book post on Thursday, the Ministry of Roads and Highway said parts of the funds will be used in financing some nine road projects across the country.

“More roads to be constructed under the “Year of Roads” as Parliament approves US$750 million loan agreement to finance capital and growth related expenditures including the following road projects.”

The following are the nine road projects to benefit:

“1. The Ofankor-Nsawam Road 2. The Ejisu-Konongo Road 3. Completion of the Nsawam-Apedwa Road 4. The Suame Interchange and local roads 5. The completion of the Flower Pot Interchange, Legon-Accra 6. The Completion of the Sofo Line Interchange 7. The construction of the Kwabenya-Peduase Road 8. The Completion of the Eastern Corridor Lots 5 and 6; and 9. The Enkyikrom-Adawse Road,” the ministry said.
