VIDEO: From a fuel attendant to CEO of Petrosol, the story of Michael Bozumbil

Bozumbil has been the chief executive of Petrosol Ghana Ltd since 2006, when it was founded by him as a petroleum business management and consulting firm

The chief executive of Petrosol Ghana Ltd, Michael Bozumbil, has advised the youth not to despise small beginnings in their quest to build a career.

Bozumbil believes there are job opportunities in Africa’s energy sector even in the wake of energy transition, which has to do with the shift from the use of fossil fuel to cleaner sources of energy.

He has therefore charged the youth to prepare themselves to take advantage of opportunities in the energy sector.

“The energy sector is changing in form but not in substance,” Bozumbil said, adding that the world will always need energy and that it is the type of energy that may change from time to time,” he told participants at a career seminar, organised by the Energy Quest Foundation in Accra.

He encouraged those desiring to build career in the energy sector not to be frightened by the news about energy transition and end up staying away from pursuing careers in the energy sector; instead, they should develop even greater interest in the sector because of its enormous growth potential.

Using himself as example, Bozumbil said he was offered opportunity to do his national service as a fuel pump attendant at a time when his colleagues were posted to big institutions and organisations.

Drawing inspiration from his senior brother, Bozumbil braced all odds and worked through the various ranks in the industry to his current position.

About Michael Bozumbil

Bozumbil has been the CEO of PETROSOL Ghana Ltd since 2006, when it was founded by him as a petroleum business management and consulting firm.

Through diligence and strategic partnership, he successfully migrated the business from consulting to an Oil Marketing Company in 2014 and has since led his team to successfully grow the company from its small beginning to become one of the leading Oil Marketing Companies in Ghana, focused on meeting the needs of consumers. Through his insistence on best practice, PETROSOL is known as a value-for-money brand, as it insists on delivering clean fuel in full quantity to its customers.

With over twenty-five (25) years’ experience in petroleum downstream business management starting from fuel retail outlet management through field operations supervision to senior level management and consultancy, he has a fine blend of experience which cuts across various categories of Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) — multinational, Pan-African and indigenous/Ghanaian–which he uses to provide leadership and direction to team.

A passionate advocate of and believer in ethical business conduct, win-win business relationships and best practices, he coaches and guides his team to live such values and to aim at nothing but the best, notwithstanding the challenges they encounter as a private indigenous company. This is because he believes that quality or excellence has no nationality.
