Ablakwa donates medical equipment to Ho Teaching Hospital

He donated the items to the hospital's management on Monday, 27 September 2022 with a call on them to make use of them effectively

Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has donated a variety of medical equipment to the Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH).

Some other District Health Directorates in the region are expected to benefit from the items.

The items include isolation gowns, specimen bottles, coveralls, sample tubes, face shields, bone needles, chest tubes, oxygen masks and others worth thousands of cedis.

Okudzeto Ablakwa said, “sharing is caring as they say” hence the donation, adding that, “Ho Teaching Hospital is operating at a much higher level and so these are equipment that will make maximum impact, will be more beneficial”.

He explained that the items are part of medical equipment meant for a surgical theatre project in his constituency, however, the equipment came in excess hence the decision to share with HTH and others.

He said MPs must not only focus on their constituents but also prioritise the well-being of others.
Ablakwa added, “As Members of Parliament, our obligation is not only to our constituency but how we can improve the general well-being of our people in the region and how we can also pursue integrated solutions …”
The chief executive officer of the hospital, Dr John Tampuori thanked the MP for the gesture and noted that ” relying on the government alone is not enough. We should show some interest in health delivery…”

He said, the donation has come at the right and will help improve health care delivery, adding, “Looking at the boxes, if you quantify it in terms of money, it’s quite an amount that will help us push a bit forward”.

The Ho Teaching Hospital is one of the oldest and largest public health facilities in the Volta and Oti enclave.
