Dr. Kwaku Agyeman-Budu delivers guest lectures at Fordham Law School 

Dr. Kwaku Agyeman-Budu, delivered guest lectures as a Visiting Professor/Scholar in International Law, at Fordham Law School in New York

Head of law centres at the Faculty of Law, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and host of “The Forum” on Asaase Radio (99.5 MHz), Dr. Kwaku Agyeman-Budu, has delivered guest lectures as a Visiting Professor/Scholar in International Law, at Fordham University School of Law in New York, USA.

Dr Agyeman-Budu delivered the lectures to Fordham Law School graduate students at the invitation of the Leitner Center for International Law and Justice at the Fordham Law School.

The Lectures

The lectures essentially focused on the historical evolution of International Criminal Law and the role of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in ensuring accountability for the most serious crimes of International concern i.e. Genocide, Crimes Against Humanity, War Crimes and the Crime of Aggression.

“I had the distinct pleasure of delivering Guest Lectures this week as a Visiting Professor/Scholar in International Law at the Leitner Center for International Law and Justice at Fordham University School of Law in New York, USA” Dr Agyeman-Budu wrote on his Facebook wall.

“It felt good to be back at my alma mater to give back to the school where I studied towards my Master of Laws Degree (LL.M) in International Law and Justice and Doctor of Juridical Science Degree (SJD) as well” he added.

The Leitner Center

The Leitner Center for International Law and Justice at Fordham Law School is an innovative Think-and-Do Tank that aims to make international human rights protections an everyday reality for marginalized communities around the world. As a hands-on advocacy team housed in a world-class university, the center provides education and training for law students, facilitate capacity building and advocacy with activists and grassroots groups around the world, and contributes to critical research among legal scholars in international human rights.

From its base at Fordham Law School in New York City, the Center develops long-term partnerships with local social justice organizations and other stakeholders across the globe.

Through its pioneering programs, clinics, and education initiatives, the Leitner Center trains students to become international legal experts and impassioned human rights advocates.

Dr. Kwaku Agyeman-Budu

Dr. Kwaku Agyeman-Budu is an alumni of Fordham University School of Law, having been awarded the prestigious Vivian Leitner Global South Scholarship to pursue a Master of Laws Degree (LL.M) in International Law and Justice by the Leitner Center for International Law and Justice at Fordham Law School in 2011.

He subsequently obtained a Doctor of Juridical Science Degree (SJD) from the same University in 2018 and has since played a lead role in Ghana and Africa on matters relating to International Criminal Law and the International Criminal Court (ICC) and is considered as an authority in this area.

He helped establish the African Centre of International Criminal Justice (ACICJ) and currently runs the Center as part of his responsibilities as Head of Law Centers at the GIMPA Faculty of Law.
