Ashanti Region: Unknown persons kill 18-year-old girl

The victim was discovered lying prostate and unresponsive in an uncompleted building close to her house

Residents of Abemkyim, near Anwiankwanta in the Ashanti Region are reeling over the killing of an 18-year-old lady by unknown assailants, over the weekend.

The deceased Georgina Agyemang, an apprentice, could not be traced after closing from work on Friday (15 September), prompting police action.

The victim was also found half naked with blood oozing from her openings. Further inspection by police at the scene saw torn panties tied at the neck of the deceased.

The officers after crime scene management conveyed the body to the Bekwai Municipal Hospital for preservation, pending autopsy.

Assemblyman for the area, Frank Awuah who confirmed the incident to Asaase News said the police have reached out to the bereaved families to advance investigations.

“It is a shocking development. The Regional Police Commander and his team of officers were here. No arrest have been made. There are frantic efforts to get the perpetrators who committed this heinous crime”, Awuah said.

“Now residents here are living in fear. Eveb the victim’s mother was even hospitalized after hearing the news. Some of the residents are planning to relocate and in deed the area is a new-site where people are building the grounds up and so security in that area needs to be improved,” he stated.
