I won’t produce songs for other artistes, says Cabum

Cabum says he won't be producing songs or beats for other artistes because it is very stressful to do so

Versatile Ghanaian rapper, Cabum, born Frank Kwame Gyasi- Frimpong says he has no intentions of producing songs for other artistes except himself.

‘’I won’t produce for other artistes; I have no intentions of producing beats or songs for other artistes because it’s stressful,’’ he said.

Cabum is known for using the slogan “Cherish it” to precede or end all his tracks. The slogan he said is to usher his listeners into his music to cherish his lyrics.

Speaking on Café985 on Asaase Radio Kumasi, Cabum said: “I’m working on two albums for this year, the first one is titled Carterfly, signifying the rebirth of Cabum.”

Cabum has expressed his admiration and interest in working with Lord Kenya.

“We could do a gospel song together, so I’m very interested. I want to work with the legends and when it comes to energy, I will forever give it to Lord Kenya.”

‘’Yeyeeye’’

Cabum told show host Naa Klordey Fritzal Abban that his latest track “Yeyeeye”, was inspired by Nana Acheampong’s catchphrase Yeyeeye.

Cabum noted that “it took me two hours to produce the beat and the vocals.”

In over a decade of doing music in Ghana, Cabum has produced a lot of hit songs like Bawumia (Buh I’ll Mia), Hajia Bintu Freestyle, MawuBedroom DinnerElectricZakari ft Stonebwoy and SarkodieTuky3 and others.

Moving from Kumasi to Accra

“I moved from Kumasi to Accra because Accra is where all the big gigs usually happen. I went there (Accra) as a new artiste, I intentionally went on break to restart,” he said.

In moving to Accra, Cabum has since shared the stage with Angelique Kidjo and Youssou Ndour at the Mo Ibrahim Freedom Concert in 2016.

“I have to admit, I got angry after the performance because we didn’t get paid, but the exposure helped my career because I was also to talk to Youssou Ndour after his performance,” he added.
