I’m now a Ghanaian, French artist Luna Sedjro says

Luna Sedjro says she has been in Ghana for two years now and really loves listening to Ghanaian music

Luna Sedjro, an afrobeat/dancehall Benin artist has said Ghana and Nigeria are currently the places to be when it comes to doing and selling music across the world from Africa.

“I’m now a Ghanaian. I am saying that because I am inspired by the Ghanaian culture and the Ghanaian music,” Sedjro said appearing on the Urban233 show on Asaase 99.5 Accra over the weekend.

“I just try to get their vibe mixed with the Benin culture and put them in my songs,” Sedjiro told host, Barry The Airborne.

According to her, she got into music when she was 16 years old, adding that although she liked singing a lot, she was not musically inclined.

“It was one of my friends who wanted to record a song. He was like, ‘I like your voice. Come and let’s do the chorus of this song’. I went to the studio with him and that is where the journey started,” Sedjro recalled.

The reggae/dancehall artist also expressed gratitude to her mom for the advice and support throughout her career.

Touching on the inspiration behind the release of her second single, she said: “I will say it is my dad, because, when I was little, he was always playing old songs from Ivory Coast. So, he really put me in love with music. Even when I am trying to distance myself from it, there is something like a magnetic attraction.”

According to Sedjro, she enjoys listening to Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay because she likes her vibe.

“Wendy Shay is a full package,” she said, adding that: “I’m a fan of hers – not only her music but everything about her. I would love to feature her.”

Record label

Luna also spoke highly about the record label Avril14 Production managing her.

They are currently looking for the right artists to be placed on her next album, aside from Wendy Shay. She later added that there would soon be a release of the music video for her song “Enter Me”.

“I will put Sarkodie or King Promise on my next album,” she revealed.

She called on upcoming artists to believe in themselves and never give up.

“I will just tell them not to give up because I’m coming from afar. Believe in what you are doing because people can tell you that you are doing nothing, but as long as you believe in what you are doing, you will make them believe in you,” Sedjro added.
