Minister to investors: Oti Region blessed with tourism sites and natural resources

According to the regional minister, the government is doing everything within its power to ensure that the Oti Region experiences the best possible economic growth

Dr Joshua Makubu, the Oti Regional Minister, has urged investors to take advantage of the region’s rapid growth and invest to develop the area.

According to him, Oti Region is fast developing and will soon compete with other developed regions.

Makubu said the region is blessed with numerous natural resources, which many investors can take advantage of.

The minister said some of the best and most beautiful tourism centres within the region are, Kyabobo park, the Shiare waterfalls and the iron ore deposits site.

Shiare Village is situated a few kilometres east of Nkwanta. This village is the paramount seat of the people of Akyode and is affectionately called the “Hanging Village” as a result of its architectural design. The houses are virtually built into the mountains, making them look as though they are hanging. Their houses are in layers.

Shiare even though a small farming community, has beautiful waterfalls which need to be developed.

The serenity and the coldness of the water serve as sightseeing and a place of relief for tourists who visit there.

The Kyabobo reserve was established in 1993 but its boundaries were adjusted severally until September 1999 when the current and final boundary was fixed.

The park has Ghana’s second longest mountain, Mount Kyabobo and offers visitors an impressive view of Lake Volta. The park is located in a transition zone between the tropical rainforest and tree Savannah.

The park’s wildlife includes African bush elephants, African Leopards, African Buffalo and Waterbucks, several primate species, and bushbucks among others.

The park has seven hiking and two mountain biking trails. The most popular hiking trail follows a ridge in the South East corner of the park to a peak atop one of the breast mountains.

The regional minister is, therefore, calling on all investors and business owners to consider investing in the region.

He added that, with the discovery of the iron ore deposit site in the region, many business fortunes and doors are open in the region.

He, therefore, appealed to the Ghana Tourism Authority and the residents of the Oti Region both at home and abroad to come on board to develop the region.
