Apathy within NPP threatens our chances in 2024, says Sammy Crabbe

Sammy Crabbe has called on the members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to be united as the party forge ahead for Election 2024

Sammy Crabbe, a national chairman candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said apathy within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) threatens the party’s chances to “break the 8” in the 2024 elections.

He said there is a need for the NPP to have a united front going into Election 2024.

Speaking with Benjamin Offei-Add on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Monday (11 July), Crabbe said, “What threatens our party’s chances for the 2024 election is the apathy in our base which can blow up in our faces … Should we rectify this, we stand a good chance in the election [2024]”

“We need to understand that our institution is huge and the mechanics within it will get continuously convoluted with time … We must stay a step ahead. We cannot have a weak party base in these times. We must all band together,” he said.

Crabbe added, “I firmly believe that if the party’s grassroots is reinvigorated and focused on the fight ahead then it stands our party in good stead.”

Factionalism

He said, “Factionalism is part of politics … Problems come up when factions become cults and the philosophy of an individual supersedes that of our party (NPP) …”

Crabbe added, “When factionalism becomes cults of individuals then such an eventuality will be destructive to the party. This is the reality.”
